The Hardt Gallery is excited to welcome spray paint artist Pat Milne for a new exhibition this September. Milne, known for his unique stencil-based artwork in blacks and greys, will be in St. Francis on Saturday morning, September 13 to talk about his creative process and showcase his latest work.

From Wood Carving to Spray Paint Art

Originally a wood carver, Pat Milne discovered spray paint art nearly ten years ago after watching a YouTube video. What started as curiosity quickly became his passion. Since then, he has dedicated himself to perfecting this unconventional medium.

“I’m partially colorblind,” Milne explains, “so I paint in blacks and greys. After isolating these colors, I cut stencils for each one and then layer them on.”

His process is painstaking and detailed, with most paintings requiring at least seven stencils—and some as many as thirteen—before the final piece emerges.

About Spray Paint Artist Pat Milne

Milne lives in North Platte, Nebraska, with his wife Jenn and daughters Starly and Stryker. Though Nebraska is home, he is no stranger to St. Francis, having visited family here since childhood. His deep connection to the community makes this new show at the Hardt Gallery especially meaningful.
